Service Description

Wayfinder is a comprehensive, evidence-based wellbeing program designed to foster holistic development in students aged 11 to 18. Grounded in positive psychology, social-emotional learning (SEL), and purpose-driven education, Wayfinder empowers students to build self-awareness, resilience, empathy, and a strong sense of purpose. The program offers age-appropriate, scaffolded curriculum modules that support students through the critical developmental stages of adolescence. By integrating weekly lessons into the school timetable, Wayfinder provides a consistent space for students to explore their identity, build meaningful relationships, and develop essential life skills that promote mental, emotional, and social wellbeing. Key Areas of Development: Emotional Wellbeing: Encourages students to identify and manage their emotions, build confidence, and develop a growth mindset. Social Wellbeing: Promotes respectful relationships, active listening, empathy, and responsible decision-making. Mental Wellbeing: Supports cognitive flexibility, self-regulation, and mindfulness practices to improve focus and reduce stress. Purpose and Identity: Helps students reflect on their values, strengths, and goals, guiding them to live with intention and meaning. Program Outcomes: Students who participate in Wayfinder develop a stronger sense of self, improved peer relationships, and the skills to navigate challenges with resilience and optimism. The program equips them not just for academic success but for a fulfilling, values-driven life beyond school. Implementation Options: Wayfinder can be delivered through advisory periods, wellbeing classes, pastoral care sessions, or integrated into existing curriculum structures. Educator training and digital resources are provided to support seamless adoption and delivery.

While online counselling can be highly beneficial for many individuals, it is not suitable for all mental health concerns. Some conditions require intensive, in-person intervention to ensure safety and provide the most effective support.

In particular, individuals experiencing severe mental health disorders, such as psychosis, or those expressing suicidal ideation, should seek immediate, face-to-face care.

Online counselling platforms may not offer the urgent crisis intervention necessary in these situations (Barnett & Kolmes, 2016).

If you are in crisis or experiencing severe mental health symptoms, please seek immediate help through one of the following services:

  • Emergency services: Call 000 (Australia) or go to your nearest emergency department.

  • Lifeline: 13 11 14  24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention.

  • Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 support for mental health and wellbeing.

  • Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467 professional phone and online counselling for people affected by suicide.

If you are located outside Australia, please contact your local emergency services or crisis helpline in your area.
